Prominent Twitch streamer Pokimane confronted fellow female broadcasters who promote their own channels by bringing her down with disparaging comments.

Imane ‘Pokimane‘ Anys is one of Twitch’s most-followed streamers and the platform’s most-followed female creator overall, known for her bubbly personality and humorous gaming broadcasts.

However, being such a famous figure isn’t always sunshine and rainbows, as she’s been at the center of several viral kerfuffles over the years; from her infamous no-makeup stream to her Myna cookies controversy, Pokimane is no stranger to the good sides and the bad sides of online stardom.

In fact, Anys says that she’s even witnessed other female creators using her past drama to promote their own content by bringing her down.

Pokimane is one of Twitch’s most-followed streamers, but fame isn’t always sunshine and roses.

Pokimane takes aim at other female streamers bringing her down

During a March 17 episode of her ‘Sweet ‘n Sour’ podcast with LilyPichu, Pokimane called out these broadcasters, asking them if they really want to cultivate an audience in this way.

“Every single time that I get into some sort of controversy or ‘drama’ online, I will see other female streamers… that start promoting their streams by putting me down. ‘Come see my stream, I’m nothing like that b-word Pokimane!’

“Hey, maybe that gets you a few more viewers for the night, but on the other hand, is that really the community you want to build? Because if you, as a woman, are building a community of guys that hate me, likely for some misogynistic reasons, maybe for some others… chances are, they will turn on you just as quickly.

“That’s not really who you want as part of your fanbase anyway. Personally, I might label that as a little bit pick-me behavior, but such is life.”

LilyPichu agreed with Pokimane’s sentiments, saying that she dislikes when anyone puts down another person to lift themselves up, regardless of gender — especially if they’re her friend.

This isn’t the first time Pokimane has addressed such incidents; during her trip to France in February, the streamer broke down into tears after remarking that people had been so nice to her in the country after receiving so much negative attention online in the States.
