Deftones singer Chino Moreno was bombarded on a street in Dallas by a number of autograph hounds who each had multiple vinyl albums for him to sign. After politely signing most of the items, the frontman appeared to get fed up, telling them he was done “signing s**t.”
Video shows Moreno signing items for a couple people at first, before several other autograph seekers approach him. One person seems to have about 10 Deftones albums alone, as Moreno signs each and every one of them. Then another person comes at him with multiple vinyl sleeves, as well.
After signing for a few more people, Moreno says, “Go ahead and tell your friends I’m not doing this shit no more. You guys go online in your little groups and shit, tell people I’m not signing shit no more. I signed these right now, but let them know I’m not signing anything.”
Deftones played the American Airlines Center in Dallas on Saturday (March 15th), and it was likely that Moreno was just trying to enjoy his free time in the city. He probably had good reason to also believe that some of the autograph hounds weren’t necessarily Deftones fans, but rather collectors looking to make a buck on eBay.
The Dallas stop came amid Deftones’ current North American tour with The Mars Volta, running through an April 9th show in Newark, New Jersey. The band also recently announced a late-summer US run with IDLES and Phantogram, set to kick off in August (get tickets here).
