McDonald’s overthrown as world’s biggest fast food chain & you’ll never guess by who

McDonald’s has been dethroned as the world’s top fast food chain by a restaurant you’ve probably never even heard of.

For years, McDonald’s has been the king of fast food, offering customers worldwide its mouthwatering burgers, fries, McMuffins and, if their ice cream machine is working, yummy milkshakes.

The Golden Arches have reigned supreme with over 40,000 locations across the globe, some with some pretty unique interiors.

Unfortunately, Ronald is going to be a very sad clown, because the iconic restaurant is no longer the world’s biggest fast food chain. But they weren’t beaten by a rival like Burger King, Starbucks, Taco Bell or even KFC. Instead, McDonald’s was beaten by a chain you’ll never expect.

McDonald’s has been overtaken as the biggest fast food chain.

Unexpected fast food chain dethrones McDonald’s

As reported by Newsweek, McDonald’s has been overtaken by the Chinese bubble tea and ice cream chain, Mixue Bingcheng.

If you’ve never heard of them, there’s a good reason why. Although they operate 45,000 stores, almost 90 percent of them are located in China.

The rest are in nearby Asian locations such as Vietnam and Indonesia.

What makes Mixue Bingcheng such a treat (no pun intended) is their prices. The chain offers soft serve ice cream cones for a mere 1 yuan, the equivalent of 15 cents USD.

Its beverages are also super affordable, costing anywhere from $0.30 to $1.20 – a far cry from what customers are used to paying in other parts of the world.

While Mixue Bingcheng may have more stores than McDonald’s, its prices cause it to lag behind rivals in terms of sales figures with brands such as Tim Hortons.

However, as reported by The Sun, Mixue Bingcheng could be coming to the United States, with experts believing that the company will find success in America.

Meanwhile, for those sticking by McDonald’s, the brand has been enhancing its menu, even adding a new signature burger to its offerings to compliment its world-famous Big Mac.
