Bronte, new character on Netflix's 'You'

Netflix dropped the official trailer for You Season 5—and it’s chilling AF. The psychological thriller stars Gossip Girl alum Penn Badgely, aka Joe Goldberg, a bookstore manager and serial killer who forms intense attractions to women. The hit series is based on the novel of the same name by Caroline Kepnes. The fifth and final season of You is set to premiere on April 24th, and from the looks of the trailer, it will be full of highly-anticipated twists and turns that the series is known for.

Here’s everything you need to know about the You Season 5 trailer.

Joe Returns To New York

You Season 1 took place in New York City, where Joe worked as a bookstore manager and met his first conquest in the series, Guinevere Beck. After that, Season 2 brought Joe to Los Angeles and Season 3 took him to the fictional suburb Madre Linda. The plot got even thicker in Season 4 in London.

The final season looks to be a true full-circle moment, as brings Joe back to where it all began: The Big Apple.

Joe ended Season 4 with a seemingly clean slate. However, Season 5 may undo it all.

The trailer includes a scene of Joe appearing on a newspaper cover, with the headline, “Joe Goldmurder. Humanitarian or Homicidal Maniac?” A social media video of Kathryn Gallagher’s character, Annika Atwater, appears, where she says, “That psycho absolutely killed my best friend Peach.” This references Joe killing Peach Salinger in Season 1.

Marienne Bellamy Returns

During the third season of You, Joe pursued librarian Marienne Bellamy (Tati Gabrielle)—all the while he was married to Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti). While Joe believed Marienne to be dead in the fourth season—after leaving her body on a park bench—it was revealed that Marienne plotted with Joe’s student, Nadia, to fake her death.

However, it looks like Marienne’s story might not be over quite yet. According to What’s On Netflix, photos from the set show Gabrielle during filming.
