A video of Denzel Washington seemingly giving a struggling actor in New York City a helping hand is going viral on social media. Washington recently opened up a Broadway production of Othello alongside Jake Gyllenhaal.

In the video, a woman following Denzel Washington with a camera is then invited inside the theater by the legendary actor, who reminded the Trinidadian woman that he’s “regular people just like you.”

Washington’s production of Othello sold out in its first week and broke four house records at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre, including raking in $2,637,158 for its first seven preview shows.

“Come inside then,” Washington says as he enters the theater before telling the woman to put her phone away. The video then cuts to a later moment, with the actress telling Denzel she’s from Trinidad & Tobago before getting emotional, to which Washington replies that he’s “regular” just like she is.

Othello will officially open on March 23 and will run through June 8. According to Deadline, the average ticket price for the show last week was $361.90, “far outdistancing the second-most expensive show The Outsiders, which had an average ticket price of $155.02.”

Following his starring role in Ridley Scott’s Gladiator II last year, Washington will next be seen starring in the film Highest 2 Lowest, which marks a return to collaborating with his longtime friend Spike Lee.

Described as a “reinterpretation” of Akira Kurosawa’s 1963 Japanese classic High and Low, Highest 2 Lowest will also star Ilfenesh Hadera, Jeffrey Wright, Ice Spice, ASAP Rocky, Dean Winters and John Douglas Thompson.
