Even John Cena has pointed out that his historic WWE heel turn occurred before the long-awaited release of GTA 6.
Whether or not John Cena would ever heel turn has been the topic of much discussion for roughly 20 years. However, WWE fans still expressed nothing shy of shock and awe when he turned on Cody Rhodes as soon as The Rock gave the nonverbal order.
The sudden betrayal happened during WWE Elimination Chamber 2025 on Saturday, March 1, and instantly set the pro wrestling world ablaze as the Wrestlemania 41 event looms ahead.
Grand Theft Auto quickly became part of the conversation, too, as fans flooded social media with memes about how “we really got John Cena as a heel before GTA 6.”

Shortly after turning pro wrestling on its head, John Cena jumped on his Instagram page to share a photo of the Grand Theft Auto 6 poster.
It’s evidently his way of commenting on the joke that he broke bad before Rockstar Games was able to finally deliver the next GTA installment.
Fans in the comments wasted no time adding their own two cents, with one response reading, “We got Cena hell before GTA 6. This is unbelievable.”
“Bro’s leaning into the GTA 6 jokes,” another user chimed in.
“You just killed Cody Rhodes before gta 6,” someone else wrote beneath Cena’s Instagram post.
WWE faithful will get to see how the new alliance between John Cena and The Rock plays out in the coming weeks since Wrestlemania 41 will kick off on Saturday, April 19.
But hopeful Grand Theft Auto 6 players have plenty to look forward to this year as well. Publisher Take-Two Interactive has maintained that the open-world game is still on track for a fall 2025 release.
