Darkside — Nothing

Nicolás Jaar and Dave Harrington are back with their first Darkside album in four years, and this time, they’ve brought a new member into the fold: Tlacael Esparza has joined the group as their drummer and percussionist, adding a rhythmic flair to Darkside’s already-complex electronica.

Deep Sea Diver — Billboard Heart

Jessica Dobson and her great band Deep Sea Diver have been indie rock mainstays for over a decade, and now, the group is back with their first album after signing to Sub Pop Records last year. It may be a tall act to beat 2020’s Impossible Weight — a pandemic-era salve for some — but Billboard Heart‘s terrific recent singles “Shovel” and the Madison Cunningham-aided “Let Me Go” are right up there with the best in their catalogue.

Hope Tala — Hope Handwritten

Hope Tala’s Hope Handwritten is so assured and well-designed that it’s hard to believe it as a debut LP. As she’s released singles steadily in recent months, the charming British-Jamaican artist has woven a warm, neo-soul mosaic, and the complete project is even brighter and richer when experienced in full. On the record, the singer-songwriter bounces between optimism and realism with a bracing undercurrent of honesty on largely acoustic foundations, successfully matching the suggestion of the homespun nature of the album’s title.

LISA — Alter Ego

As the new season of The White Lotus unfolds, BLACKPINK member LISA has unveiled her debut solo album, Alter Ego. It’s an appropriate name for the project, one that sees LISA exploring genres and aesthetics as she pleases; the pre-release singles saw her bouncing from nostalgic dance-floor bops to confident, girl power anthems and more of the brash, hip-hop-inspired energy that has historically characterized her role within BLACKPINK. With Alter Ego, LISA confirms that she’s in a period of shape-shifting.

Mdou Moctar Tears of Injustice

Mdou Moctar follow up their great, politically-charged record from last year, Funeral for Justice, with a new companion album, Tears of Injustice. Featuring stripped-back versions of the Funeral for Justice songs recorded using acoustic and traditional instruments, Tears of Injustice is every bit as impressive, both in performance and theme.

The Men — Buyer Beware

Veteran NYC rockers The Men return with their brand new album Buyer Beware, the act’s 15th full-length release. Previewed by garage-tinged singles “Pony,” “PO Box 96,” and “Charm,” the album sees the band lean on their melodic sensibilities and punky attitude.

Panda Bear — Sinister Grift

Noah Lennox returns today with his seventh solo album as Panda Bear, and it’s another kaleidoscopic entry from the Animal Collective member. He previewed the album with the Cindy Lee collab “Defense,” and the psychedelic cut “Ferry Lady,” which features one of 2025’s most bizarre music videos yet. With a tour to come alongside Toro y Moi, Panda Bear’s year is looking bright.

serpentwithfeet GRIP SEQUEL

Alternative R&B artist and CoSign alum serpentwithfeet isn’t easy to pin down. Now, with GRIP SEQUEL, the innovator has expanded his 2024 LP with six new compositions and three alternative versions of select tracks from the original album. Described as a testament to Black, queer joy, GRIP SEQUEL lands as something urgent and strikingly original.
