News of beloved actress Michelle Trachtenberg’s death broke Wednesday morning. She was 39 years old.
The actress is known for appearing in several projects with big followings from Buffy the Vampire Slayer in which she starred as titular character Buffy’s (Sarah Michelle Geller) kid sister Dawn Summers starting in Season 5 to Gossip Girl, in which she starred alongside Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Ed Westwick and more as Georgina Sparks, a socialite and major antagonist in the 2000s show set in the lives of Upper East side elite teenagers.
Trachtenberg later appeared in Max’s reboot of the popular teen drama show, reprising the role of Georgina Sparks. She starred alongside Zac Efron and Matthew Perry in 17 Again, in which Perry’s character undergoes a transformation back to his 17-year-old self, portrayed by Efron. Trachtenberg played their daughter Maggie. She is also known for playing Jenny in EuroTrip (2004), Wendy in Gregg Araki’s Mysterious Skin (2004), and Casey Carlyle in Ice Princess (2005).
