ExtraEmily broke down in tears during a Twitch broadcast, saying she’d considered quitting her career as a content creator due to the backlash over a viral clip from her stream.
On February 22, 2025, popular Twitch streamer and OTK member ExtraEmily was in the middle of a phone call when she appeared to reference fellow broadcaster Nick ‘nmplol’ Polom in a list of streamers she’s worked with.
However, some thought Emily saying, “Nick, uh…” was actually her saying something else entirely, sparking a heated debate online. Some viewers defended Emily, while others accused her of using a racial slur.
Emily elaborated on the clip in a string of humorous tweets, explaining that she’d only said, “Nick, uh” — but the conversation persisted, causing the streamer to consider quitting her career over the backlash.
She opened up about the ordeal on February 25, tearfully admitting that she’d thought about stepping away from streaming entirely.
“It’s just really unfortunate, what happened,” she explained. “I don’t even know why it’s happening, but… it’s horrible. I guess I go viral, right? But I go viral for horrible things, and I can never go viral for good things. I don’t even know what to do.
“I think to myself, okay, what else would I do with my time if I wasn’t a streamer? I talk to my mom and she’s like, ‘Emily, go get an MBA and you can just go back to work,’ and I’m like, ‘That sounds horrible!’
“Every time I thought about something else, it always came back to me streaming. I just have to weather this part of the internet. There really isn’t anything else I want to do, so I just have to deal with it. There are tough times, but we’ll keep pushing on.”
Emily also said that she likely won’t sue the maker of the clip that went viral on X, calling litigation against them a “waste of time and money.”
Emily’s tearful broadcast was met with ample support from fans, who encouraged her to continue streaming despite the negative reaction around the clip.
This is just the latest news to come from an OTK streamer after Asmongold revealed he’d completely left the group months after stepping away from his leadership positions in the organization.
