TikTokers can’t find the beat to Hilary Duff song in viral challenge

TikTok is buzzing with videos of users hilariously struggling to find the beat to Hilary Duff’s iconic 2003 hit, ‘Come Clean.’

This pop classic from Hilary Duff’s album Metamorphosis has sparked a viral trend where users attempt to clap along to the beat, in time with its electro-pop synths and drum patterns.

However, as TikTokers quickly discover, keeping the beat isn’t as easy as it sounds. The song’s intricate rhythm throws off even the most confident participants.

One of the most popular videos, posted by TikTok user _skyegirl, captures her husband enthusiastically clapping completely off-beat.

Despite briefly finding the rhythm, he loses it again in the next verse. This clip has amassed over 9.4 million views and 393,000 likes, with Billie Eilish among those.

Many other TikTokers, especially men, have joined the challenge, often with funny results. For example, content creator stephanie_ann_05 shared a video of her husband concentrating hard, clapping and tapping his foot to the song’s chorus, only to give up in frustration.

While most participants flail, some musically skilled users shine. Drummers have stepped up to the challenge, using their background in music theory to master the beat.

In one clip posted by miss_c_lauren, a drummer dad claps perfectly in sync, joined by his young son. Meanwhile, katysergent’s drummer husband earned praise for clapping to the rhythm, amassing 4.3 million views on her video.

Since the trend began in late February 2025, the ‘Come Clean’ sound has been used in over 17,000 TikTok videos, and the number is climbing. Fans are now eagerly waiting for Hilary Duff herself to react to or attempt the challenge.

The ‘Clap on beat’ fad continues to spread, uniting TikTokers in their rhythm struggles and proving that even timeless pop hits can have a learning curve.

It’s just one of the many trends gaining traction on the app, alongside the popular ‘I Dreamed A Dream’ craze and the ‘Not my name Quarterback’ meme.
