The ‘Not my name Quarterback’ meme is making its rounds on TikTok, amassing millions of views. Here’s everything you need to know about it.
A scene from the Tubi original movie ‘Sidelined: The QB and Me’ has become an internet sensation, sparking a wave of reenactments and parodies on TikTok.
Dubbed the ‘Not my name, Quarterback’ meme, the trend shows a hilariously melodramatic exchange between the film’s leads, now immortalized for its “cringe” factor.
‘Not my name Quarterback’ origin
Released on November 29, 2024, ‘Sidelined: The QB and Me’ follows a dancer and a quarterback fighting against their feelings for each other as graduation looms. In the now-viral scene, Drayton (played by Noah Beck) throws a football to Dallas (Siena Agudong), saying, “Nice catch, Cheer.”
She retorts, “Not my name, Quarterback,” before throwing the ball back to him. Both characters wear “Archwood Wolves” merch, adding to the high school drama aesthetic.
On December 9, 2024, Tubi’s official TikTok account posted the clip, amassing over 1.2 million likes and 23 million views. The scene’s cheesy dialogue and delivery quickly made it prime meme material.
How the meme evolved
Content creators jumped on the trend almost immediately. On December 8, YouTuber TabithaswatoshShorts uploaded a Short featuring influencer Tabitha Swatosh reenacting the scene on the Kansas City Chiefs’ field, gaining over 163,000 likes.
Days later, TikToker avaceo recreated the scene with a friend, using the TikTok sound of Tubi’s video. Their video earned more than 181,000 views.
The meme gained new life in February 2025 with increasingly absurd parodies. TikToker tylerwrighttt posted a reenactment with “99.9% accuracy” on February 16, racking up 17.4 million views and 1.7 million likes.
On February 24, stubbaa posted a wholesome twist, reenacting the scene with his young daughter using their own voices, quickly earning 7.7 million views within a day.
The trend thrives on its mix of humor and self-aware cringe. TikTok users enjoy parodying the scene’s over-the-top earnestness, while others creatively remix the audio.
With over 2,292 videos using the Tubi sound and counting, “Not My Name, Quarterback” has become one of the most viral phenomenons in 2025 so far.
It’s just one of the many trends gaining traction on TikTok, alongside the popular ‘I Dreamed A Dream’ craze and the ‘Bro is not going back home’ meme.
