How Chalamet, Oscar-nominated as Bob Dylan, became a hot tune topic

Timothée Chalamet is winning — and not just at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, where he took the best actor prize on Sunday night.

The 29-year-old SAG victor for “A Complete Unknown” — in which he transforms into Bob Dylan — is also winning over indie artists who are calling out Chalamet’s name in song.

Singer-songwriter Kate Eberstadt is the latest to give titular tribute to the star of “Call Me By Your Name,” “Dune” and “Wonka” on her new single “Timmy Chalamet.”

On the breezy, bittersweet breakup song, she sings, “I wanna drink champagne with Timmy Chalamet/Alone in the church in the middle of the day/Go to confession, tell him what I wanna say/I wanna drink champagne with Timmy Chalamet/Chillin’ in the chapel watchin’ ‘Fifty Shades of Grey.’”

The song was inspired by the Brooklyn-based artist’s real-life split. “The person that I had been dating and living with and I thought that I was going to marry broke up with me over the phone,” Eberstadt, 33, told The Post. “I was spiraling and just felt lost.

“And I had recently re-watched ‘Call Me by Your Name,’ and was just so moved by Timothée’s performance in that movie… especially the fireplace scene where he’s crying by the fire. It just felt like pure heartbreak happening right onscreen, and I felt like he would understand what I was going through.”

But Eberstadt says that she isn’t necessarily pining over Kylie Jenner’s man in the song.

“It’s definitely up for interpretation,” she said. “I think there are some kind of discreet romantic undertones in the song. But I think, even more than that, to me it’s [about] just connection and, like, feeling lonely … And wouldn’t that be fun to just escape all your problems and go hang out with your favorite celebrity or some artist that you really admire?”

It’s a bond that Chalamet has made with young artists of his generation who both idolize him — for his talent, style and heartthrob looks — and relate to him.

“He’s really an artist’s artist,” said Kate Eberstadt of the actor who gets titular tribute in her new single “Timmy Chalamet.” Kai Ravelson Madden

“I first of all just admire him a lot as an artist. He’s really an artist’s artist,” said Eberstadt. “There’s also something about parasocial relationships. We kind of just feel close to people that we see on those big screens all the time, and with social media, that’s even more true and more real.”

But with Chalamet, there’s a familiarity despite his fame. “For my generation, we all had that kid in our theater class,” she said. “We know that kid.”

Eberstadt was among the thousands who attended last October’s Timothée Chalamet lookalike contest at Washington Square Park in NYC’s Greenwich Village. “I saw so many people feeling the same way that I felt in the flesh,” she said.

But she actually had a closer connection to Chalamet than most.

“We were almost in, like, similar circles, because he was in the NYC theater world, and so was I,” said Eberstadt. “And also he was at Columbia University at the same time that I was there. Some of my friends were either friends with him or, like, interacting with him somehow. So we were, like, one degree away from each other for a little bit.”

Now, the “Call Me By Your Name”-inspired video for “Timmy Chalamet” is out this week — just as he vies for best actor at the Oscars on Sunday.

“It really is serendipitous timing,” said Eberstadt, whose solo album “Heaven on Earth” will be out in June.

But she’s not alone in showing musical love for Chalamet. Here are some other artists who have also been keeping in tune with Timothée.
