Kylie Kelce might be the most highly-anticipated Call Her Daddy guest in months. Alex Cooper teased Kelce’s appearance by sharing a celebratory Super Bowl picture showing an Eagles helmet on the field surrounded by ticker tape and at that point, anyone with a working brain could put two and two together to realize it was going to be Kylie Kelce who actually has an incredibly successful podcast of her own now.
The episode dropped on Tuesday night with the title “Kylie Kelce: Stop Calling Me a WAG” which really hones in on just a few moments in the hour-and-six-minute-long Call Her Daddy episode where the Kelce matriarch talks about everything under the sun with Alex Cooper but it’s the part that stands out. ‘Jason Kelce’s wife’ is not who defines her and she makes some really valid points about the term ‘WAGs’ which stands for ‘wives and girlfriends (of athletes).’
The conversation starts around the 10:20 mark in Kylie Kelce’s Call Her Daddy episode. Alex prompts the discussion by asking “how do you feel about the word ‘wag’?” and Kylie straight-up says “I don’t like it because I think it has a serious negative connotation attached.” You can hit ‘play’ on the video below to watch the discussion or scroll past the video to read the full quotes.
Kylie Kelce went on to say “I think that it’s this suggestion that your spouse’s profession swallows you up as well. I have made a serious effort to make sure that… both Jason and I have made a serious effort to make sure that while he was playing, that it was clear that that was his job.”
Kelce added “in the same way that someone would go to work and come home and not necessarily talk about their entire day. You’re filing taxes. You’re doing spreadsheets. Like, you’re not coming home and telling your spouse about, like, the spreadsheet you worked out.”
Kylie astutely points out that most of the so-called ‘wags’ have their “own independent lives” and are “real humans with real lives and feelings,” adding that the “vast majority, it’s so funny to me because it’s like, it is that stigma of, you’re with them because they make a lot of money or, you want designer bags or you want… you live in a mansion.”
Elsewhere in the Call Her Daddy episode, Kylie Kelce discussed finding out that her brother-in-law Travis was dating Taylor Swift who was arguably the most famous person on earth at the time due to the Eras Tour success. She said they found out before the public but that it didn’t hit the family group chat. That discussion is around the 55-minute mark in the episode if you want to hit play on the video above and skip ahead.
