Philadelphia-based indie rock quartet Mo Lowda & the Humble have returned with ‘Canary,” the first single from their upcoming fifth studio album, Tailing the Ghost, due out June 20.
‘Canary’ is a melodic and atmospheric piece that explores the uncertainty and excitement of a budding romance. The song’s foundation is built on an irresistible guitar riff and a hypnotic groove, carrying the listener through its introspective lyrics.
Written on a fan-gifted Canary Yellow custom Fender Telecaster and recorded in the vast desert of Joshua Tree, the song captures the raw, fleeting nature of its themes.
Lead vocalist and guitarist Jordan Caiola shares:
“It focuses on the struggle of allowing oneself to fully open up, let it naturally unfold & trust the trajectory–something the narrator has previously (unsuccessfully) grappled with.”
Jeff Lucci (bass, guitar, keyboard, vocals) adds that the track’s unique sound was shaped by his use of a baritone guitar for fingerstyle parts and creative pedal work that gives the bridge an electronic feel.
Accompanying the single is a vibrant animated music video by Taras Merenkov, visually amplifying the song’s emotional depth and hypnotic energy. The blend of striking imagery and immersive sound makes ‘Canary’ a compelling introduction to Tailing the Ghost.
