A prolific Loch Ness Monster investigator has captured footage from a webcam that he believes could be the first sighting of the creature in 2025. The video appears to show something very large repeatedly emerging from and submerging back into the Scottish waters.
Nessie hunter Eoin O’Faodhagain, who captured the video and has recorded more than two dozen sightings of the Loch Ness Monster, recorded the footage off of a Visit Inverness Loch Ness webcam.
“I noticed a disturbance in the middle of Loch Ness, to the right of the screen,” he told the Mirror. “I saw a shape rise up out of the water, then submerge, four times in the same spot, which I considered to be highly unusual.
“I thought it could be Nessie, but first wanted to look at other options. I’ve ruled out a log – I’ve never seen a log emerging and submerging in the same spot, ever.
“And waves move along, they do not stay in the one place. It’s far too large for any wildfowl or seals, and I’ve also ruled out divers or swimmers. The only possibility is Nessie.”
This particular Loch Ness Monster video was taken from the Clansman Hotel. Eoin O’Faodhagain also captured footage of what he thinks is the creature from that same location in 2024. Visit Inverness Loch Ness also maintains webcams that overlook the fabled waters at the Airanloch B&B, the Pinewood Steading, and Shoreland Lodges.
“It could be the first genuine Nessie Sighting of 2025,” O’Faodhagain said. “January would not be a popular month for Nessie sightings, maybe because there are fewer pleasure craft out on the loch.”
The first images of the Loch Ness Monster in 2024 weren’t reported until April. According to the Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register, there were a total of just three “official” sightings of the creature last year, plus two from webcams like this one.
“Because of the shortness of video clip, best watched on a slower speed. Unusual shape emerges and submerges, 4 times in the same spot out in the middle of the loch towards the right of the web screen,” O’Faodhagain writes in the description of the video. “Very brief, but something large came to the surface about 15 to 20 feet long, acted in a most unusual manner with water disturbance around it.”
