Siouxsie and the Banshees drummer Peter Edward Clarke, better known as Budgie, has announced a new memoir. The Absence: The Memoirs of a Banshee Drummer will chart Clarke’s journey through the late 1970s and early ’80s British post-punk scene—where he performed with the Slits, Big in Japan, and the Banshees—as well as his marriage to and divorce from Siouxsie Sioux. The book will be published this June by White Rabbit.
In a press release, Clark said, “Damned if you do, denied if you don’t. To remember, revisit and to write, was traumatic and cathartic. To be published? Terrifying! I prepared my apologies, and anticipated rejection. I received mostly love, understanding, and affection. To those still hurting from the way things were, I can only empathise and offer a prayer. I present my mistakes that I may learn and others may avoid.”
