It’s been less than three years since the release of Jurassic World Dominion, but you can’t keep a good (or even an increasingly not-great) franchise down. And the new trailer for Jurassic World Rebirth can at least promise us Scarlett Johansson as a badass covert operative and Jonathan Bailey as a glasses-wearing dinosaur expert.
The new film is set five years after Dominion, as a team hunting for genetic samples heads into one of the few tropical regions on Earth where dinosaurs still roam.
Jurassic World Rebirth is the seventh film in the Jurassic series, which began in 1993 with Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park. The most recent film, Dominion, seemed to wrap up a number of key character stories, which is why previous franchise cast members Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Chris Pratt don’t seem to be on the cast list for Rebirth. Instead, the movie also stars Oscar winner Mahershala Ali, Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Luna Blaise, David Iacono, and Ed Skrein.
Original Jurassic Park co-writer David Koepp penned the script for Rebirth. Taking on directing duties is Gareth Edwards (not to be confused with other Gareths and Garths out there), who previously showed his talents for blending characters and visual effects on the franchise films Godzilla (2014) and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Jurassic World Rebirth arrives in theaters on July 2nd, 2025. Check out the trailer below.
