TAYLOR Swift fans have become convinced the star dropped a clue about who could appear on her upcoming Debut re-release.
The singer appeared on stage at the Grammys on Sunday night to present the award for best country album.
While introducing the nominees, Taylor paid tribute to prior winners of the award, telling the audience: “It is an honor that has gone to great artists who I admire so much, like The Chicks, Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, George Strait, Faith Hill, Vince gill, Alison Krauss….
She then made a loving sigh before adding, “… and Shania Twain.”
Fans believe that the nod to country singer Shania may be a hint that she’ll be appearing on the upcoming ‘Taylor’s Version’ re-recording of her debut, self-titled album.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) to share their excitement, one wrote: “shania twain featured on debut (taylor’s version)? the way she said it…”
“btw taylor 100% secured a shania twain feature for debut tv like her little giggle was EVIL,” wrote another.
A third said: “Listen all I’m saying is I need a Shania feature on Taylor Swift (Taylor’s Version),” while a fourth added, “okay so what i’m hearing is shania twain is a feature on a vault track on taylor swift (taylor’s version)”
“The way she said Shania Twain….. she’s 10000000% on Taylor swift Taylor’s version btw,” noted a fifth.
Taylor has been re-recording her first albums one-by-one in response to her old label, Big Machine Records, owning the masters.
Scooter Braun, who later bought the label and its recordings, then sold Taylor’s masters for a reported $300million in 2019 – to the public annoyance of the singer who didn’t have control of the ownership of her own material.
Since then, the star has been re-recording, updating and releasing the albums again as ‘Taylor’s Versions’ in order to regain some ownership of her work.
Currently, only Reputation and Debut are left to be released, with fans desperate to know when they’ll be dropped.
The self-titled debut, often referred to as just ‘Debut’ was released at a point in Taylor’s career when she was mainly a country singer – which would fit with Shania Twain.
At Sunday night’s Grammy Awards, Taylor handed Beyoncé the award for best country album for Cowboy Carter, with Beyoncé looking noticeably shocked she was recognised in the genre.
Cowboy Carter would later also win Album Of The Year – the biggest award of the night and the first time Beyoncé had won in the category, despite being nominated four times prior.
