Beyoncé Wins Album of the Year at 2025 Grammys

Beyoncé won Album of the Year at the 2025 Grammy Awards for her widely-celebrated album COWBOY CARTER. Somehow, it’s the first time in her career that she has taken home the prize (she was previously nominated four times in the category).

Overall, it was a historic night for Queen Bey. Even before the festivities kicked off, her 11 nods this year officially made her the most nominated artist in Grammy history with 99 total nominations. Then, she became the first Black artist to win Best Country Album ever. Now, by nabbing Album of the Year with COWBOY CARTER, she not only hits a new career milestone but becomes the first Black woman to win the honor since Lauren Hill did in 1999 for The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.

Despite the tough competition in the Album of the Year category, the audience seemed to fully support Beyoncé’s win. Lady Gaga shed tears of joy and Taylor Swift celebrated with Beyoncé’s husband (who also raps sometimes) JAY-Z. Watch clips of those moments below.

Beyoncé’s wins for COWBOY CARTER are all the more notable considering the artist was completely shut out at this year’s Country Music Awards. The artist announced an upcoming tour behind the record, so stay tuned for more details.
