Los Angeles-based indie-pop artist Ella Vos kicks off the year with ‘Kawaii,’ a luminous and uplifting track that sets the stage for her upcoming fourth studio album, ROSEBUDS, set to arrive later this year.

Blending her dreamy synth-pop sound with introspective lyricism, ‘Kawaii’ is both a nostalgic reflection and an anthem of empowerment. The track takes inspiration from Ella’s journey, revisiting the Los Angeles landscapes that shaped her and embracing the evolution of her artistry.

Reflecting on the song, Ella Vos shares:

“‘Kawaii,” which means “cute” in Japanese, was inspired by an actual dream I had where “everyone” was mad at me for following my dreams of becoming a solo artist. I know many women who have experienced this when they step into their power, and others have trouble embracing the change. I have experienced it myself over the course of my career. As a solo artist in the music industry for nearly ten years, I’ve had my ups and downs; I’ve been starry-eyed, I’ve been jaded. This song is about returning to the music world, the Los Angeles that I know and grew up loving, and saying goodbye to my people-pleasing self. It’s about chasing what I know makes me most joyful.”

With ‘Kawaii,’ Ella Vos reintroduces herself with renewed confidence and creative spark, offering an enticing preview of what’s to come with ROSEBUDS.
