Frank Ocean is officially rolling the cameras on his directorial debut.
The R&B singer’s plans to direct a film were first revealed in 2022. Now, according to Variety, the project has officially begun shooting in Mexico City, with actor David Jonsson in the lead role. Additional details—including the plot—remain unknown.
Jonsson previously co-starred in Alien: Romulus and the HBO series Industry.
This will mark Ocean’s first major activity since his ill-fated headlining set at Coachella 2023’s first weekend, which led to him dropping out before the second weekend. Before that, his most recent album, Blonde, was released in 2016.
