Ryan Whyte Maloney, best known for competing on “The Voice” Season 6, has died. He was 44.
The singer died by suicide, according to the coroner in Clark County, Nevada, who confirmed the news to People on Tuesday. The cause of death was listed as a gunshot wound to the head, per the report.
The Post reached out to the medical examiner but did not immediately hear back.
Whyte Maloney was active on social media right before his tragic death. He posted a video on his Instagram story on Monday, which appeared to be filmed at a bar.
“Nine fine Irishmen for a private party tonight, and we will be rocking,” he said in the video while holding a rock hand gesture.
The musician appeared on “The Voice” in 2014 during the same season as Morgan Wallen.
Whyte Maloney wowed all four judges with his performance of “Lights” by Journey but ultimately chose Blake Shelton’s team. He went on to become one of the country star’s top 5 finalists.
During his stint on the competition singing series, Whyte Maloney recorded four singles, including “Lights,” Tina Turner’s “What’s Love Got to Do with It,” “Easy” by Rascal Flatts and “Second Chance” by Shinedown.
The singer made it through two battle rounds on the country star’s team and returned to the show to perform during the season finale.
Whyte Maloney reportedly stayed close with Shelton after “The Voice” and had an ongoing residency at the country star’s venue, Ole Red, according to his website.
The Post contacted “The Voice,” Shelton and Wallen for comment.
After his appearance on the NBC series, Whyte Maloney continued to pursue his music career.
In January 2023, he released a single on country radio called “Don’t Put Me in a Box” before dropping “Love With Nowhere to Go,” “Sleepwalk” and “Toast To Tonight.”
Whyte Maloney’s website reveals he was also a songwriter for other artists and a studio musician, engineer and producer.
During his career, he reportedly shared the stage with Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts, Shakira, Usher, Adam Lavine, Alabama, One Republic, Coldplay, Robin Thicke, Ed Sheeran and more.
