Viagra Boys Announce New Album viagr aboys, Reveal New Song

Swedish post-punk group Viagra Boys are back to announce a new album, viagr aboys, set for release on April 25th. They’ve also shared a new song, “Man Made of Meat,” and revealed its satirical, art world-themed music video.

viagr aboys will be the Stockholm band’s fourth LP and their first new album since 2022’s Cave World. Produced by frequent collaborator Pelle Gunnerfeldt, they’ll be releasing viagr aboys as the first offering on their newly-launched label, Shrimptech Enterprises. As for the album title’s particular spelling, vocalist Sebastian Murphy says, “This is like a self-titled album but a bit simple and stupid — because that’s how I am.”

“Man Made of Meat,” the album’s lead single, finds Murphy reprising his signature dark humor and satirical tone over crisp guitars and (fittingly) a meaty bassline. Murphy laments the anxieties of modern life under capitalism: “I am a man that’s made of meat/ You’re on the internet looking at feet” goes just one humorous line in the chorus, but throughout, Murphy references McDonald’s, Matthew Perry’s death, trying to get free women’s sweaters from L.L. Bean, subscribing to “your mom’s OnlyFans” and wheelchairs with “electric motors made by goblins in a factory overseas.”

The song also comes with a music video directed by Daniel Björkman that depicts Murphy as an “accidental artist.” Murphy drops a bottle of liquor in a museum when looking at a painting, thus creating another piece of art for the elite to fawn over; eventually Murphy is demanded to recreate and subsequently abstract his own initial “work,” and each time he challenges his status as an artist (culminating in a press conference meltdown), he’s rewarded with more critical adoration. In support of viagr aboys, the band will be embarking on a 2025 North American tour this autumn. They’ll first head stateside for an appearance at Coachella in April, but formally begin their North American run in Vancouver on September 11th; they’ll continue through cities like Seattle, Portland, Chicago, Toronto, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Oakland, Denver, Austin, St, Louis, Nashville, and many more. The tour ends with a show in Atlanta on November 8th. Check out Viagra Boys’ 2025 tour dates below, and get tickets to see them here.
