Her brave son Sebastian broke the news of his mom’s passing – here’s everything you need to know about him.
Who is Lynn Ban’s son Sebastian?
Sebastian is Lynn Ban and Jett Kain’s teenage son.
His parents met on New Year’s Eve in 1994 when Lynn gave Jett the wrong number by accident.
Luckily for Sebastian, his parents bumped into each other again at a dinner with mutual friends and hit it off.
They were business partners for 27 years and launched Sebastian’s grandfather’s sushi business in the US together, as well as Lynn’s jewelry business – Lynn Ban.
He took to Instagram to break the news of his mum’s passing and shared a selection of family photos on the social media platform.
In the caption. he wrote: “My mum passed away on Monday. I know she wanted to share her journey after her accident and brain surgery, so I thought she would appreciate one last post sharing the news to people who supported her.
“Many of you followed my mum but never got the chance to know her or meet her in person.
“I would like to take the chance to share who my mum really was. She was and always will be my best friend, the best mother to me, and someone who cared for all.
“She always had a smile on her face even when times were tough during her recovery process.
“She was a fighter until the end and is the strongest woman I know. She was the funniest and coolest mum I could ever ask for.
“She took care of me, my dad, and our entire family throughout her whole life. Although she may be gone now, I will do everything I can to make sure she is never forgotten and for her life to be celebrated as it deserves to be.
“As a final message to my mum, I would just like to say that I will miss you forever and to end in something she always told me “I love you more than life itself” mum,” he added.
How did Lynn Ban die?
Lynn died after suffering a brain bleed caused by a skiing accident in Aspen, Colorado on 24 December 2024.
The 51-year-old had been given the green light by ski patrol officials who checked her over following a fall on the piste.
But soon after she developed a headache and was rushed to hospital for a CAT scan.
Within 30 minutes, doctors told Lynn that she had a bleed on her brain and that she needed to be airlifted to hospital.
In an Instagram post shared after her surgery, she wrote: “Last thing I remember was being intubated and waking up after an emergency craniotomy with Jett by my side,” Lynn said.
“Christmas Eve on a beautiful sunny day in Aspen on vacation with my family, I had a ski accident that would change my life,” Ban wrote.
The mom said she “caught a tip and face-planted” at the top of the mountain.
“Luckily I always wear a helmet. It didn’t seem that bad at the time and I was able to ski to the bottom,” she recalled.
She added: “Long road of recovery ahead. Grateful and blessed to see the New Year.”
