TSHA Announces Smartphone-Free US Tour

Amid growing concerns surrounding smartphone use on dancefloors, TSHA has announced a phone-free tour in an effort to encourage crowds to connect and dance.

Phones have become our digital memory keepers, but the constant urge to document experiences pulls us out of the present moment. The scourge of smartphones is perhaps no more apparent than at concerts, where a sea of screens often overshadows the intimate shared energy of the event itself.

A recent study from Heineken indicated 55% of music fans prioritize capturing footage of a performance over being present in the moment, even though 13% said they rarely watch back the videos they record anyway.

Ganja White NightDamian LazarusJames Hype, MEDUZA and many more have hosted phone-free raves. Now, TSHA joins them in her stance against excessive phone usage at shows.

The DJ and producer, who was named one of EDM.com‘s best music producers of 2021, said she hopes to return the dancefloor to its most authentic state: a place where the world fades away and people are united through rhythm and grooves. It’s unclear at this time how she plans on implementing the policy at the shows.

“Phones have taken over the dance floor in recent years. So I’m bring a no phones dance floor with non-stop dancing,” TSHA wrote on Instagram. “Dance music and clubs are a place for you to escape your phones and the outside world and just focus on connecting with each other through music and movement.”

TSHA’s announcement of her “Jackfruit” tour arrives four months after the release of her sophomore album, Sad Girl.
