Everybody Dies in Stephen King Adaptation

The new red band trailer for Osgood Perkins’ upcoming film adaptation of Stephen King’s The Monkey has arrived. Watch the clip below.

Based on King’s 1980 short story of the same name, The Monkey was produced by Saw creator James Wan, and stars Theo James, Tatiana Maslany, Elijah Wood, and others. The film will premiere in theaters on February 21st via Neon, who previously collaborated with Perkins for last year’s Longlegs.

“When twin brothers Bill and Hal (both played by James) find their father’s old monkey toy in the attic, a series of gruesome deaths start,” reads the official logline. “The siblings decide to throw the toy away and move on with their lives, growing apart over the years.”

The Monkey isn’t the only upcoming adaptation of one of King’s stories. In October, it was announced that Mike Flanagan is developing Carrie as a series for Amazon, and later in 2025, a film version of The Running Man is due from director Edgar Wright.

In other King news, the beloved writer recently announced the closure of his three Maine-based radio stations, citing a desire to “get his business affairs in better order.”
