Actress and pop star Jennifer Lopez apparently thought her later-in-life reunion with Ben Affleck was going to be a “fairytale.” Unfortunately for J. Lo, however, sources say it wound up being more of a nightmare.
With Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s divorce becoming finalized this week, the pair’s whirlwind marriage has officially come to an end.
According to alleged sources close to Lopez, the New York City native now feels her marriage to Affleck was a “nightmare.”
“A source tells PEOPLE now of Lopez, 55, ‘The fairy tale she was promised turned out to be a nightmare in the end… She’s in a really good place and just wants to close the door on this crazy chapter.’”
Lopez’s took her desire for her romance with Affleck to be a fairytale quite literal as she released a movie called The Greatest Love Story Never Told that accompanied the release of her album This Is Me… Now.
Affleck and Lopez first dated in the early 2000s and rekindled their romance in 2021 after Lopez split from Alex Rodriguez and Affleck saw his relationship with Ana de Armas come to an end.
The A-list couple got married in a small Las Vegas ceremony in July 2022 before Lopez filed for divorce just over two years later, citing irreconcilable differences.
Despite their split, Affleck’s production company Artists Equity remains in business with Lopez as they produced her new movie Unstoppable, which is releasing on Prime Video on Thursday, January 16. The company that Affleck co-founded with Matt Damon is also set to produce an adaptation of the Broadway play Kiss of the Spider Woman, which Lopez is set to star in alongside Diego Luna.
