Her storyline in the movie centers around her friendship with an orphan called Joe (Christian L. Fitzpatrick), as they work together to save Christmas.

The likes of John Lithgow, 79, and the late BAFTA winner Dudley Moore played the leading roles in the Christmas classic.

In a 2019 interview Lithgow labelled the film as “tacky,” however he did admit that it is one of his most popular projects with the public.

Alongside The Crown star, Carrie rose to prominence in the industry after she played the role of Cornelia.

This was after she had a role in a pilot episode for the spy thriller series, The Equalizer back in 1985.

After her success in the holiday classic, she went onto play Nikki Ferris a year later in The Parent Trap II.

However, after her role in the popular Disney sequel she decided to retire from acting.

Now, the former child star lives a very different life out of Hollywood and away from the spotlight.

She often appears on her Instagram profile as she posts images of her family life.

In May 2005, she married Peter K. Binas before she gave birth to their daughter Katie in April, almost two years later.

Carrie then decided to become a novelist and writer, penning several titles in the women’s fiction genre.
