After marking his presence as the charming Southern detective in Knives Out and Glass Onion, Daniel Craig is set to return in Wake Up Dead Man in 2025 alongside a star-studded cast including Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, and more.
But the burning question remains, will he stick around for more Benoit Blanc adventures? Well, he has recently spilled the tea on what might bring him back to the iconic role after Wake Up Dead Man.
Daniel Craig On His Future As Benoit Blanc
Even as the candid detective, Daniel Craig has shared some intriguing thoughts on his future as Benoit Blanc. While discussing his career with Variety, he revealed that he’s totally game for returning to the role, as long as Rian Johnson keeps delivering that top-notch writing we’ve come to expect from the Knives Out films.
He said, “If Johnson keeps writing them like that, then yes, I will play it.”
And let’s be real, who can blame him? After the action-packed, body-wrecking days of Bond, the role of Blanc is a welcome break. Craig cheekily added, “It’s much easier on the limbs.” So, as long as the scripts stay sharp, it looks like Benoit Blanc might have a long, easygoing life ahead.
Will Daniel Craig Return in Knives Out Future Films?
While Daniel Craig may be ready to slip back into Benoit Blanc’s shoes, the road ahead isn’t entirely smooth. Well, as per the reports, the behind-the-scenes drama between Craig, Rian Johnson, and Netflix’s CEO Ted Sarandos, especially over the Glass Onion distribution might change the plans.
But don’t worry, the future of Knives Out isn’t completely tied to Netflix. With only two sequels financed by the streaming giant, Craig, and Johnson have the freedom to shop Blanc’s future mysteries to other studios if they’re not vibing with Netflix’s approach. So, despite the bumps, Benoit Blanc’s detective days are far from over.
