As a member of BLACKPINK, ROSÉ is well-known for her dynamic performances and powerful vocals. While appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Wednesday night (December 11th) to promote her new solo album, the artist showed off her playful side with an energic performance of “APT.” (one of the best songs of 2024) and got vulnerable with a powerful rendition of her emo-adjacent single “toxic till the end.”
Both singles appear on ROSÉ’s first solo full-length, rosie, though the singer took on the global hit “APT.” without collaborator Bruno Mars. His absence didn’t seem to impact the performance one bit, however, as she imbued it with joy from the start. ROSÉ began by casually leaning back in Fallon’s chair and then sitting atop his desk before skipping out to the audience and getting them involved.
For “toxic till the end,” ROSÉ returned to the set and delivered a windswept performance, unleashing past heartbreak into her cathartic vocals as confetti fell on the stage. Watch the medley performance below.
Earlier during the show, ROSÉ sat down with Fallon for an interview, during which she remembered falling asleep while practicing at the piano during her childhood and buying a guitar with her own money at the age of 14.
ROSÉ also recalled auditioning for BLACKPINK’s label YG Entertainment in Australia and shared how “mentor and friend” Bruno Mars helped convince her to go with the album title. Watch below for more about her co-writing process and a breakdown of the Korean drinking game that inspired “APT.”
Last month, ROSÉ performed “APT.” with Bruno Mars at the MAMA Awards. Pick up a physical copy of rosie here.
