Joe Satriani and Steve Vai have formed a new band together, the SatchVai Band, and announced a run of UK/European tour dates.
The formation of the band follows the duo’s excellent 2024 single, “The Sea of Emotion, Pt. 1.” While the guitarists are longtime friends and have shared the stage many times as pillars of the G3 shred-guitar tours, the song marked their first time collaborating on a studio track.
At the time of the song’s release, Satriani and Vai were on a co-headlining tour. Things must have went smoothly all round, as the two virtuosos decided to join forces for good and make “SatchVai” a full-on band.
“The SATCHVAI Band Tour is happening!” enthused Satriani [via a press release]. “I’m so looking forward to sharing the stage with Steve again. Every time we play together, it takes me back to when we were teenagers, eating and breathing music every second of the day, pushing, challenging, and helping each other to be the best we could be. I guess we’ve never stopped!”
Vai added: “Touring with Joe is always a pleasure and an honor. He is my favorite guitarist to jam with, and now we have another opportunity to take it to the stage. I feel as though we are both at the top of our game, and the show will be a powerful celebration of the coolest instrument in the world, the electric guitar!”
The upcoming UK/European run will be there first under “SatchVai Band” billing. The route kicks off June 13th with a short UK leg and runs through July 22nd in Sofia, Bulgaria, with additional dates to be announced. Get tickets here.
