Dolly Parton has announced an open casting call for her new Broadway musical, “Dolly: An Original Musical.” Parton announced the call on Instagram stating the production is searching for performers of all ages.
“I’m so excited to share some big news with y’all,” the legendary country star shares with fans. “As you may have heard, my life story is coming to Broadway in a brand-new show called ‘Dolly: An Original Musical.’ And now, I’m announcing the search for Dolly. Now, whether you’re chasing your dreams from a small town or you’ve spent years performing on stages across the country, I want to give you the chance to help me bring my story to Broadway and maybe even play me.”
The production is seeking “performers of all ages to portray Dolly at different stages of her incredible life.” Parton says she’s seeking anyone from theater professionals to an “undiscovered gem with that little special something. The selected few individuals will audition for the show’s casting director with the show headed to Broadway in 2026.
“This show is a celebration of my music, my life, and all the amazing people who’ve been with me along the way,” Parton continues. “Now we’re looking for talented performers who can capture the spirit of my journey.” ‘Dolly: An Original Musical’ will be directed by Bartlett Sher, with music and lyrics written by Dolly Parton.
Anyone interested in participating in this open casting call should upload a one-minute video to social media featuring them singing their favorite Dolly Parton song. The post should also use the hashtag, #SearchForDolly to be considered for selection. Acceptable social media platforms for the search include Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, or Twitter.
After the upload, applicants must fill out a ‘musical application form’ on the website dollymusical.com to complete the submission for selection. Applicants under the age of 18 must submit their audition video on the website. Submissions for consideration must be received before midnight on January 13, 2025.
