Over the past year or so, Doechii has earned recognition at mainstream awards shows like the Grammys as a rising artist. But if you’ve been paying attention, TDE’s first female rapper flashed enormous potential even before signing to Kendrick Lamar’s former label in 2022. Anyway, Doechii stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Wednesday night and put on a masterful medley performance of “DENIAL IS A RIVER” and “BOILED PEANUTS.”
Taking to the stage, Doechii showed off the commanding presence and creative vision that made her debut major label full-length Alligator Bites Never Heal one of the best albums of 2024. Through a fully choreographed dance routine, the Tampa native brought the personal narrative of the songs to life alongside two look-a-like dancers. With any luck, Doechii could soon be announced as an opener on Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s 2025 stadium tour, but one can only hope. Tickets for that go on sale Friday via Ticketmaster.
