Former Marvel Cinematic Universe star Jonathan Majors has scored his first legal win since his career fell apart after he was arrested for assault in March 2023. Majors has not starred in a film since then despite being one of the biggest up-and-coming actors in Hollywood at the time of his arrest.
Jonathan Majors, who was convicted of of two misdemeanor counts for assaulting his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari in Decembeer 2023, has had a lawsuit alleging assault and defamation.
According to reports, Jabbari filed a lawsuit against Majors in March claiming that he defamed her during a Good Morning America interview following his guilty conviction in which he said he “never laid [his] hands on a woman.”
“Jonathan Majors‘ ex-girlfriend dismissed a federal lawsuit against him on Thursday, in which she had accused the actor of assault and defamation.”
“Attorneys for both parties filed a joint notice with the court on Thursday, stating that ‘all claims against Defendant in the above-captioned action are hereby dismissed with prejudice.’ One of Jabbari’s attorneys, Brad Edwards, said Friday: ‘That is how every case ends after it is resolved.’” [via Variety]
Prior to his arrest, Majors was one of the fastest rising stars in the entertainment business due to his performances in projects such as The Last Black Man in San Francisco, Da 5 Bloods, The Harder They Fall, Lovecraft Country, and Creed III.
Majors profile had grown to such an extent that he was cast as Kang the Conqueror, who was set to be the next multi-film villain of the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise. Majors appears either Kang or a “variant” of the character in seasons one and two of the Disney+ series Loki and the film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
He was also set to headline the Avengers film Avengers: Kang Dynasty, which has since been retitled Avengers: Doomsday and will now star Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom.
