Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that many fans have grown tired of all the fake soap ridiculousness in Salem. It’s clear that Body & Soul has overstayed its welcome, but there’s good news to report.
In a recent interview with Michael Fairman, Deidre Hall (Marlena Evans and Hattie Adams) confirmed that Body & Soul is over.
The cast is now filming other things, so we can look forward to big changes hitting the screen eventually.
Of course, Hall’s updates aren’t surprising since there’s a new Days writing team now.
In fact, Hall hinted that Body & Soul was the reason for DOOL Head Writer Ron Carlivati’s departure.
When asked if she had fun doing Body & Soul or if she hated it, Hall was careful with her words.
Although Hall didn’t exactly trash the storyline, it was obvious she wasn’t a fan of it based on her demeanor and response.
“Body & Soul is done, and I think that’s what sent Ron away,” Hall admitted. “Yeah, we’re done with that and we’re back to people stories.”
Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie Williams) was part of this interview as well, so she chimed in with her thoughts.
Hayes suggested that they had “some laughs and some cringes” with the Body & Soul, but they were back to telling stories of “real people in real situations.”
It’s nice to know Days is returning to what they do best and on the right road again.
Body & Soul might’ve been funny as a gimmick early on, but it doesn’t really work as a story arc that’s playing out over multiple months.
If Body & Soul is indeed what forced Carlivati’s exit, we can’t blame Days for that!
Although Carlivati’s material will air through April 2025, great things are coming now that Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford have taken over head-writing duties.
Both Deidre Hall and Susan Seaforth Hayes had plenty of wonderful comments about the fresh writing direction.
We’ll be sure to pass along more story-related predictions as the debut of the new head-writing duo’s material gets closer.
