Soul Glo on New Album Plans, Touché Amoré Bond, Band Fights

Soul Glo are one of the most exciting acts to emerge in the hardcore scene over the past decade. In fact, the Philadelphia band’s most recent album, Diaspora Problems, earned the top spot on Heavy Consequence‘s list of the Top Metal & Hard Rock Albums of 2022.

We caught up with Soul Glo at the recent Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, where all four members — singer Pierce Jordan, guitarist GG Guerra, drummer TJ Stevenson, and touring bassist Leon Owusu (aka Leon Da Boss) — took some time to chat with us.

Regarding the follow-up to Diaspora Problems, Jordan explained that the band’s extensive touring schedule has made it tough to work on new music. He quipped, “We’re gonna start a GoFundMe so we can stay home from touring, so that we can write an album. So expect that link soon. It’s gonna be on our Linktree. It’s gonna be on our website.”

Soul Glo recently wrapped up a tour supporting Touché Amoré, with the band crediting singer Jeremy Bolm for helping to secure their record deal. “He got us in touch with Epitaph and that kinda just got the whole ball rolling,” remarked Stevenson, with Jordan adding, “Singlehandedly changed our lives.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Soul Glo commented on whether they’ve had any bandmate fights similar to the one Jane’s Addiction had recently, with Stevenson making a funny joke about Oasis. The band also shared their thoughts on the biggest issues that young people are facing in America today.

Soul Glo have a couple more 2024 gigs in Brooklyn and Philadelphia before supporting Jeff Rosenstock on a  tour of Southeastern states in February. Pick up tickets to their upcoming shows here.
