Quincy Jones and Michael Jackson (along with Lionel Richie and producer Michael Omartian) also helmed We Are the World, a successful charity single that raised funds for famine relief in Ethiopia in 1985.
He famously told the 46 assembled stars who gathered to record the single: “Check your egos at the door.”
