Manchester indie band Delights have dropped their latest single, ‘What’s On Your Mind,’ giving fans a taste of what’s to come from their debut album, If Heaven Looks A Little Like This, due out on January 17, 2025, via Modern Sky.
‘What’s On Your Mind’ builds on Delights’ signature sweeping, synth-embellished soundscapes while drawing inspiration from the atmospheric tones of The War on Drugs. This new track pairs bright synth pads and arpeggiators with a trio of vocal harmonies from band members Adam Maxwell, Cameron Stephenson, and Ben Kirkland, creating a dynamic mix of texture and color. Thematically, ‘What’s On Your Mind’ serves as a commentary on the pressures of the music industry, calling for authenticity in a space often dominated by superficiality and competition.
Reflecting on the song’s origins, lead vocalist and lyricist Adam Maxwell shares:
“Lyrically, the song has themes surrounding frustration within the music industry & the inevitable competitive nature that is synonymous with being a musician and what that entails. This was the first song that we came upon through our album writing sessions in France last summer and was absolutely one of the most fun and fulfilling tracks that we made for this record. The song is full of energy from the get-go and we can’t wait to be able to work the song into our set in a live setting.”
‘What’s On Your Mind’ is out now. If Heaven Looks A Little Like This, is due out on January 17, 2025, via Modern Sky.
