We’re less than a month away from the release of Ridley Scott’s Gladiator II, the legacy sequel to his turn of the millennium action classic. As anticipation for the new blockbuster builds, the original Gladiator is now set to receive a swanky reprint in a 4K Ultra HD package. Pre-order the new edition here.
Set to drop on November 12th, the remastered version of Gladiator boasts a commemorative SteelBook cover, a copy of the film on Blu-ray, a digital download, and other bonus features. Prior to the upcoming limited reprint of this physical variation, listings on eBay would often hit triple digits.
After the SteelBook reprint hits shelves on November 12th, Gladiator II will open in theaters shortly after on November 22nd. Starring Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington, and Pedro Pascal, it’s a sequel that’s been a quarter century in the making. Luckily, fans won’t have to wait so long for the third installment of the franchise, as Scott revealed that Gladiator 3 is already in the works last month.
During his appearance on the Kyle Meredith with… podcast, original Gladiator star Russell Crowe admitted that he was “slightly uncomfortable” with the upcoming sequel. “Of course, I’m dead and I have no say in what gets done,” Crowe admitted. “But a couple of the things I’ve heard I’m like — no, no, no, that’s not in the moral journey of that particular character… This is just me being purely honest: there’s definitely a tinge of melancholy, a tinge of jealousy.”
