Touché Amoré's Jeremy Bolm Talks New Album, Lou Barlow Collab

Los Angeles post-hardcore band Touché Amoré recently released their sixth studio album, Spiral in a Straight Line, and are currently in the midst of a headlining US tour that runs through a November 3rd show in Boston.

Ahead of the new LP’s release, Heavy Consequence caught up with Touché Amoré singer Jeremy Bolm at the Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, Kentucky. The frontman discussed the new album, including its collaborations with boygenius’ Julien Baker and Sebadoh’s Lou Barlow, as well as Touché’s contribution to a new Refused tribute compilation, among other topics.

“It’s our second record with producer Ross Robinson, who’s an incredibly unique producer and pushes you really hard,” Bolm told us of Spiral in a Straight Line in the video interview above. “He pushed us even harder on [this album]. I think that’s very palpable when you listen to the record.”

Bolm added that it was “unreal” to get one of his musical heroes, Lou Barlow, to appear on the song “Subversion (Brand New Love).”

“For me personally, it might be the just about the most incredible thing that has happened with this band,” Bolm said of Barlow’s contribution. “There’s a Sebadoh song called ‘Brand New Love’ which is in my Top 10 favorite songs of all time, and I reference that song in it. And at the end of the song, he comes on and sings the chorus of ‘Brand New Love’ on our song. So the fact that he was willing to sing his song on our song, I can’t think of a more incredibly kind thing for someone to do.”

In addition to the aforementioned topics, Bolm also talked about his working relationship with Soul Glo, who’ve been supporting the current tour, and touched on a couple of his favorite Touché Amoré music videos.

Following the US outing, Touché Amoré will kick off 2025 with a UK/European tour that runs from late January through early March. Tickets to those shows are available here.
