Bailey and her ex-boyfriend, Youtuber-turned-rapper DDG, called off their relationship less than a year after welcoming their 9-month-old son, Halo.

“After much reflect and heartfelt conversations, Halle and I have decided to go our separate ways,” DDG wrote in a statement on Oct. 3. “This decision was not easy, but we believe it’s the best path forward for both of us. I cherish the time we’ve spent together and the love we’ve shared.”

He went on to say, “We are still best friends and adore each other. As we focus on our individual journeys and our roles as co-parents, we cherish the bond we’ve built and the beautiful moments we’ve shared.”

While the source of the split is still unknown, and Bailey herself hasn’t said much about the breakup, she’s now opening up about what this new chapter in life means for her.

In a recent interview with E! News, the Little Mermaid star revealed that her current journey is all about self-love.

“I think this new chapter in my life is just all about self-love and giving all that love that I pour out of myself back into myself,” she said to the outlet. “I feel like you have to fill yourself up in order to be able to love other people and beings.”

Bailey went on to explain how focusing on herself would also help the people around her, especially her baby.

“My son, for example, I want to make sure I’m fully there for him,” she continued. “I think it’s really essential to our self-worth.”

“I think the best part of motherhood is knowing that you are being loved unconditionally by this beautiful being that you were given,” Halle said. “And he is a reminder to continue to love yourself, and that you’re important and special because of how much he needs you.”

While on the topic of self-love and mental health, Bailey also revealed what she turns to when she needs to completely reset.

“Travel is so important to me because it’s essential to my mental health,” she said. “I work so much a lot of the time, and I’m a new mom—there’s all these factors playing into my brain as a young woman now. And I feel like traveling really just helps me reset.”
