Breaking Benjamin have released their first new song in five years. The single, titled “Awaken,” comes just after the Pennsylvania band signed a new record deal with BMG.
“Awaken” should delight longtime fans. The band’s sonic trademarks — anthemic choruses, dense vocal production, and surging guitars — are all at the forefront on the nearly four-minute rocker.

“Working on this song has been something new and exciting for all of us I believe,” guitarist Jasen Rauch said in a press release. “We’ve been able to explore more of who we are traditionally, while at the same time push boundaries and try things we haven’t done in the past. Musically we’ve tried hard to stay true to what Breaking Benjamin is, but offer a new take as well.”
Fans who attended the band’s show Tuesday night (October 15th) in Las Vegas got an early tease of the new song when it was played over the PA as exit music at the end of the concert. Breaking Benjamin still have a few more dates left on their fall tour with Staind. Pick up last-minute tickets here.
Meanwhile, Breaking Benjamin are prepping the release of their seventh studio album and the follow-up to 2020’s Aurora, which is expected to arrive in the near future via new label home BMG.
“Breaking Benjamin has consistently pushed the boundaries of rock music with their raw energy, powerful songwriting, and a connection with fans that’s both intense and enduring,” stated Sean Heydorn, Senior Vice President at BMG-owned Rise Records. “We’re incredibly proud to support them as they embark on their next chapter with us at BMG.”
