Actress and pop star Jennifer Lopez has opened up about her extremely public divorce from husband Ben Affleck.
Affleck and Lopez are no strangers to making headlines, as their relationship in the early 2000s sparked a trend of naming Hollywood couples by combining their two names, i.e. “Bennifer.” The tabloids were famously all over Affleck and Lopez then just as they were during their recent divorce.
Speaking to Nikki Glaser in a conversation for Interview magazine, however, Lopez indicated that she doesn’t have any regrets about her public split from Ben Affleck.
“Not one second,” Lopez said of whether or not she regrets the pain she went through with Affleck.
“That doesn’t mean it didn’t almost take me out for good. It almost did. But now, on the other side of it, I think to myself, “F—, that is exactly what I needed. Thank you, god. I’m sorry it took me so long. I’m sorry that you had to do this to me so many times. I should have learned it two or three times ago. I get it. You had to hit me really hard over the head with a f—— sledgehammer. You dropped the house on me. Don’t have to do it again.”
After getting married in July 2022, Affleck and Lopez got divorced in August 2024 following months of speculation. Despite their divorce, however, Affleck and Lopez remain linked professionally as his production company Artists Equity produced each of her next two films: the Anthony Robles biopic drama Unstoppable, which premieres later this year, and a remake of Kiss of the Spider Woman.
