Kid Cudi’s animated Netflix special Entergalactic features voice work from Jaden Smith, Ty Dolla $ign, Vanessa Hudgens, and more.
Netflix has released a trailer and the entire voice cast of Kid Cudi’s animated special, Entergalactic. The upcoming special comes as a story idea collaborated between Kid Cudi and Kenya Barris.
Entergalactic is the story of a “young artist named Jabari as he attempts to balance love and success. Finding the latter brings Jabari a step closer to the former, when moving into his dream apartment introduces him to his new neighbor, photographer it-girl, Meadow.” The synopsis continues, “An explosion of art, music, and fashion, Entergalactic takes place in the only city that can handle all three: New York.”
Scott Mescudi, better known as Kid Cudi, stars as Jabari, with actress Jessica Williams co-starring as Meadow. The animated cast includes Ty Dolla $ign, Jaden Smith, Vanessa Hudgens, Timothée Chalamet, Teyana Taylor, Arturo Casto, Macaulay Culkin, and more. A release date for the special is yet to come, but additional first-look images of Entergalactic will drop in the coming week.
Kid Cudi has sold 22 million records in the US, with two Grammy Awards and five nominations. His work with numerous artists across the music industry includes Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, David Guetta, MGMT, Steve Aoki, Ariana Grande, Mary J. Blige, Shakira, and Michael Bolton. Kid Cudi has launched several labels, including the now-dissolved Dream On and his current label, Wicked Awesome Records.
Though best known as a rapper, singer, and producer, Kid Cudi is well-established as an actor. His first venture into acting came in 2009 in HBO’s How to Make It in America. In 2011, he starred in the Shia LaBeouf-directed short horror film Maniac alongside rapper Cage.
Kid Cudi has appeared in the films Goodbye World (2013), Need for Speed (2014), Entourage (2015), and Bill & Ted Face the Music (2020). He has also appeared in TV shows The Cleveland Show, One Tree Hill, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and HBO’s Westworld. In addition, Kid Cudi was the bandleader for the IFC series Comedy Bang! Bang! in 2015.
