Vampire Weekend have performed a spontaneous live cover of Fall Out Boy‘s classic ‘Sugar We’re Goin Down’.
The band were playing a show at New York’s Madison Square Garden this weekend (October 05) when frontman Ezra Koenig took a fan request to play the track as part of their tour’s covers section that occurs during their encore.

Vampire Weekend also honoured Billy Joel at the show, who famously performed a long running residency at MSG, with a version of ‘Scenes From An Italian Restaurant’. Similarly, Fall Out Boy released their own cover of ‘We Didn’t Start The Fire’ last year with newly updated lyrics.
Fall Out Boy will headline When We Were Young Festival in Las Vegas later this month alongside My Chemical Romance.
