Three Days Grace Announce Return of Singer Adam Gontier

Three Days Grace have announced the return of original frontman Adam Gontier, who left the band back in 2013. The hit-making Canadian rock band is not parting ways with current singer Matt Walst, however, as he will stay on and share vocal duties with Gontier.

The band teased the reunion with Gontier earlier this week by posting a voicemail message in which Gontier tells Walst that he’ll “be at the studio soon, if you can just let everybody know.”

Now, both Gontier and Walst have released statements confirming that they are recording a new album. A press release also teases that “further details about new music and touring plans will be forthcoming.”

“I feel like it’s been seamless, better than we were expecting,” said Gontier. “It’s like we got back in a room together and picked up where we left off. We have been friends for so long it’s kind of natural to get back in the room together.”

Walst added, “It’s been so much fun and inspiring making this record. Combining over 20 years of Three Days Grace and doing something that no band has ever done. I’m excited for the fans to hear it!

The news of Gontier’s reunion with Three Days Grace comes after the singer popped up at a couple of the band’s shows last year to sing a few songs.

Following his exit in 2013, Gontier formed the band Saint Asonia with Staind guitarist Mike Mushok. Earlier this month, Saint Asonia canceled their support stint on Theory of a Deadman’s upcoming tour, citing “personal matters.”

During Gontier’s original stint as Three Days Grace’s frontman, the band released a string of chart-topping mainstream rock hits. Among their most memorable tunes are “I Hate Everything About You” and “Animal I Have Become,” both of which made Consequence‘s list of the 50 Best Post-Grunge Songs.

With Walst as their singer over the past decade, Three Days Grace have continued to score big at rock radio, trailing only Shinedown for the most No. 1 Mainstream Rock songs of all time.

Along with Adam Gontier and Matt Walst, Three Days Grace’s lineup is rounded out by longtime members Barry Stock (guitar), Brad Walst (bass), and Neil Sanderson (drums, keyboards).
