A source revealed to People that the 55-year-old was “really hit hard” by the divorce, despite her efforts to project a strong front since deciding to end the marriage.

The “Ain’t Your Mama” singer filed for divorce on her and Affleck’s Georgia wedding anniversary without the aid of an attorney.

With Lopez having the house all to herself, she is allegedly finding it hard to stay there alone. According to the source, the mansion’s massive size, along with the flood of memories—both good and bad— are the reasons why she feels this way.

The insider added, “She and Ben bought the house for the whole family. It’s way too big for her and filled with too many memories as well.”

Before Bennifer’s split was confirmed, the duo had been trying to sell off their massive marital mansion.

The luxurious property was purchased in May 2023 for $60 million and was listed on the market in July 2024 for $68 million.

While it is unclear when a sale will finally occur, sources shared that buying the house in the first place was not Lopez’s idea, despite her investing a lot of time in searching for a home after her marriage to Affleck in 2022.

“The $68 million mansion was Ben’s idea,” explained an insider about the marital home purchase, per People. Apparently, Lopez prefers the “romantic, Spanish, European vibe,” which made choosing the Beverly Hills mansion a “major compromise for her.”

The source, “She agreed to it because of its spacious layout, accommodating both their families, a gym and a pickleball court, office space, plus it has two private entrances.”

Sources close to the “Atlas” actress have also claimed that she was highly committed to being the best partner during her two-year marriage to Affleck.

This included ensuring that he had “everything he needed” and even caring for him in an almost “childlike” way.

However, despite her immense commitments, Lopez still had to deal with Affleck being “very moody and dark at times,” which seemingly contrasted with the “Papi” singer’s more upbeat way of living.

This behavior from Affleck is said to have hung like a dark cloud over their relationship, and at some point, Lopez’s friends had to constantly remind her that “she’s not responsible for his feelings.”
