After the Daily Mail reported that the Duke of Sussex had reached out to former staff about the possibility of a part-time role within the monarchy, sources told People magazine that this was untrue.

They emphasized that Harry is happy with his life in California, where he is raising his family with his wife, Meghan Markle.

Royal experts also share the belief that Harry is unlikely to rejoin the royal fold as he remains focused on building his life in the U.S. However, his image in the U.K. reportedly remains a concern.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, British broadcaster Helena Chard stated: “Over the years, Prince Harry has studied all the articles written about him. He still obsesses over his public image here in the U.K. He is on a mission to change public perception, desperate to be seen in glowing lights rather than the constant negative PR whirl that surrounds him.”

Chard added that Harry “is interested in turning his public image around.”

Speaking to the publication, Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams also noted that Harry “won’t be returning to royal life,” adding that the royal family “understandably, don’t trust him.”

He said: “Expect more ‘quasi-royal’ overseas tours as these seem successful. Meghan’s upcoming Netflix program is pivotal as they desperately need the contract, which expires next year.”

Fitzwilliams emphasized that Harry and Meghan’s “future is in the U.S., not the U.K., but they obviously have to monetize their royal connections to survive.”

In the meantime, Harry remains active with his charitable work. His spokesperson confirmed that he will visit New York City during the U.N. General Assembly High-level Week and Climate Week, which run from September 22 to 29.

According to sources who spoke with People Magazine, Harry is keen to return to the U.K. to visit friends and work directly with the charities he remains involved with rather than relying on Zoom.

He also hopes to bring his family along for these visits but is concerned about their safety.

After stepping down as a senior royal in 2020, Harry lost his taxpayer-funded security. He is now reportedly preparing to appeal the court decision that denied him reinstated protection.

The Duke of Sussex believes that having security would allow him, Meghan, and their two children to travel more confidently to the U.K.

The issue has reportedly deepened the rift between Harry and his father, King Charles III, with sources telling People that the monarch has stopped taking his son’s calls.

Harry recently shared that his kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are the “best gifts” he has ever received.

“The best gift I’ve ever been given is, without doubt, my kids. I enjoy watching them grow every single day and love being their dad,” said the Invictus Games founder in an email to People Magazine.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their son, Archie, in May 2019 while serving as senior royals. In January 2020, they stepped down from their royal roles and relocated to California, where they had their daughter Princess Lilibet in June 2021.

Unlike the couple’s very public lives, they have strived to raise their kids out of the media spotlight, only occasionally sharing a few details about them.

In a previous chat with People, a friend of the “Spare” author shared that this decision stemmed from a need to keep them safe from potential threats.

“Harry has been reluctant to show his children publicly, not out of a desire to hide them but to protect their privacy and safety from potential threats,” said the source. “He wants them to lead as normal a life as possible without the fear of kidnapping or harm.”
