Linkin Park Announce Comeback Album and Tour, Unveil New Singer

Linkin Park have announced a major comeback, including a new album and tour. The band has also introduced Dead Sara singer Emily Armstrong as its new co-vocalist, and has unveiled the single “The Emptiness Machine.”

Armstrong, who has the daunting task of filling the shoes of the late Chester Bennington, joins classic members Mike Shinoda (co-vocalist, multi-instrumentalist), Joe Hahn (turntablist), Brad Delson (guitar), and Phoenix (bass), along with new drummer Colin Brittain. Original drummer Rob Bourdon is not taking part in the reunion.

The six-date “From Zero” tour kicks off September 11th at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, and includes September stops in Brooklyn, New York; Hamburg, Germany, London, England; and Seoul, South Korea, as well as a November 11th gig in Bogota, Colombia. Additionally, Shinoda tells Billboard that the band will be “touring heavily” in 2025.

Tickets go on sale this Saturday (September 7th) via Ticketmaster, with pre-sales starting on Friday. Once they’re sold out (which they surely will be), you can find deals on StubHub, where orders are 100% guaranteed through StubHub’s FanProtect program. (StubHub is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.)

The new album, titled From Zero, arrives November 15th, and features 11 songs. The band is celebrating the announcement with a livestream performance, which can be seen below.

Rumors of a reunion had been swirling all year, with buzz back in the spring that Linkin Park were looking for a female vocalist. Over the past couple weeks, Linkin Park have been teasing a big announcement, with a countdown clock ultimately leading to no news last week. Sum 41’s Deryck Whibley released a statement squashing reports that he’d be Linkin Park’s new singer.

Regarding the band’s new era, Mike Shinoda stated, “Before Linkin Park, our first band name was Xero. This album title refers to both this humble beginning and the journey we’re currently undertaking. Sonically and emotionally, it is about past, present, and future—embracing our signature sound, but new and full of life. It was made with a deep appreciation for our new and longtime bandmates, our friends, our family, and our fans. We are proud of what Linkin Park has become over the years, and excited about the journey ahead.”

Linkin Park have not toured since singer Bennington tragically took his own life in July 2017. The band did perform a tribute show that fall, but have remained inactive since then.

At the height of their fame, Linkin Park were one of the biggest rock bands in the world, offering a unique sound that featured Bennington and rapper Mike Shinoda as co-vocalists. Their first two albums — 2000’s Hybrid Theory and 2003’s Meteora — were multiplatinum smashes, yielding such memorable singles as “One Step Closer,” “Crawling,” “In the End,” “Numb,” “Faint,” “Breaking the Habit,” and more.

The band went on to release five more albums, culminating with 2017’s One More Light, which arrived just two months before Bennington’s passing.

Speaking on the new band members, Shinoda added, “The more we worked with Emily and Colin, the more we enjoyed their world-class talents, their company, and the things we created. We feel really empowered with this new lineup and the vibrant and energized new music we’ve made together. We’re weaving together the sonic touchpoints we’ve been known for and still exploring new ones.”
