Neil Young and Stephen Stills — or CSNY — are set to headline 2024’s Harvest Moon charity concert. Going down on October 5th in Lake Hughes, California, the day-long show benefits the Painted Turtle Camp and the Bridge School.
In addition to the two iconic folk singers, Harvest Moon is set to feature additional artists that have yet to be announced. Tickets for the event go on sale Friday, September 6th via AXS. Once on sale, fans can look for deals or get tickets to sold-out shows on StubHub, where orders are 100% guaranteed through StubHub’s FanProtect program.
“We’re thrilled to welcome the community to Harvest Moon at the Painted Turtle,” Painted Turtle executive director April Tani said. “This event not only brings together amazing musicians and families, but also raises vital funds for two organizations committed to changing lives. It’s a day of music, fun, and philanthropy — what could be better?”
The two beneficiaries of the event, the Painted Turtle Camp and the Bridge School, each focus on providing access to education and experience to children in need. The Painted Turtle Camp provides a free camp for kids with serious medical conditions, while the Bridge School offers education to children with physical disabilities and severe speech impairments.
“The concert will begin as attendees arrive to the sounds of the marimba ensemble Masanga,” the event described in a statement. “As the day progresses, Neil Young and Stephen Stills will take the stage for individual sets, joined by other talented performers to be announced. The event will culminate with a sunset performance, creating a magical atmosphere for all who attend. The festival-like day will also feature family-friendly activities, including face painting, food trucks, and much more.”
Young had previously put on a yearly benefit concert from 1986 to 2015 in support of the Bridge School. He also performed at the inaugural Harvest Moon concert, which took place in 2019 and featured additional sets from Norah Jones, Father John Misty, and Masanga.
The upcoming meeting of Stills and Young follows their on-stage reunion at a Los Angeles show in 2023. It also follows the news of Young canceling his tour with Crazy Horse due to an undisclosed illness. “I just woke up one morning on the bus and I said, ‘I can’t do this, I gotta stop.’ I felt sick when I thought of going onstage,” he later explained. “My body was telling me, ‘You gotta stop.’ And so I listened to my body.” He is still scheduled to play Farm Aid 2024 (get tickets here), however, and recently told fans in a Q&A that he’s mapping out a theater tour to follow.
In addition to the new show announcements, Young is reissuing four of his classic albums on vinyl: Freedom, Ragged Glory – Smell the Horse, Weld, and Arc will all be back in print on October 4th. For more Young, check out our retrospective on his famed ‘Ditch Trilogy.’
